Industry Events in the UK

We’re delighted to get back to industry events after the frustration of cancellations and online events over the last couple of years, with some fantastic plans for Summer 2022. Here Stuart Brereton CFSP, Regional Sales Manager looks ahead to three key events in the UK that MKN is getting involved with in the coming weeks.

I’ve always looked forward to industry events. I think one of the best things about our sector is the way in which people come together and whether it’s an exhibition, conference or awards night (or all three together), events are a great way to demonstrate what makes a brand special - whilst also getting out to meet the people that make this industry so exciting. And after the restrictions of recent years, this event season should be better than ever.

We’ve planned a busy Summer of showcasing innovations, meeting dealers and end users, speaking with journalists and imparting our expert knowledge on all aspects of cooking technology. Are you joining us? Here are three ways you can see us.

School Chef of the Year

Since the end of April, school catering staff have been battling it out in a series of regional heats in the LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) competition.

The competition is open to kitchen-based staff involved in the daily preparation of pupils’ meals in schools across the UK whether from a local authority or contract-catered site, managed in-house, academy school or part of a Multi-Academy Trust.

We’re long-term supporters of SCOTY and we’re getting involved once again, offering a study tour to our Germany HQ and manufacturing facilities for the winner. Look out for the national final, which will be held live at the LACA Main Event in Birmingham on 6 and 7 July, before the winner is announced at the LACA Awards dinner on 7 July.

LACA Main Event

And that’s not the only thing we’re up to at the LACA Main Event on 6th and 7th July. Join us on Stand P2, where we’ll be showcasing highlights from the innovative MKN portfolio, including the FlexiCombi and SpaceCombi ranges of combi steamers for busy school kitchens.

We offer a complete range of products from 6-grid to 20-grid, plus the slimline SpaceCombi Team and Magic Team, which offer 12-grid capacity.

We’ll be speaking to those involved in school catering at the show to demonstrate how these ranges can offer ease of use, increased productivity and uniform results, with additional features such as a closed triple glazed chamber door to maximise energy performance.

TUCO Summer Conference

If that’s not enough, we’ll also be at the TUCO Summer Conference at Keele University from 25th – 27th, for another chance to see the slimline SpaceCombi Team and SpaceCombi Magic Team in action.

Star of the show will be the SpaceCombi Magic Team including Magichood, the odour neutralising hood, which means it can be installed in virtually any environment because it can remove the need for a main kitchen extraction system. The multi-stage filter concept safely and effectively reduces blue smoke, grease or unpleasant odours. Steam and fumes are also reliably extracted. It’s a real game-changer on the university campus and we’re expecting it to get a lot of attention at the conference.
